Mission

The Foyer Saint-Thomas de la Vallée de Memramcook Inc. is a not-for-profit organization. Its mission is to:

  • provide quality care and services;
  • manage and maintain a nursing home for seniors and/or persons with disabilities;
  • inform the community of available services and educate the public on the needs of seniors and/or persons with disabilities.

Brief history

The former Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur Convent (10 acres) 

  • The Village de Saint-Joseph bought the land during the 1970s.
  • In 1972, a committee was formed during a municipal council meeting to study the possibility of building a nursing home.
  • Project « Job Creation » to tear down the old convent
  • On June 11, 1974, the committee met with the municipal council to buy the old Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur Convent land.
  • On September 10, 1974, the municipal council sold the land for the sum of $1.

  • 1975 – Construction of the Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur residence (not-for-profit)300 Notre-Dame Street, Memramcook, N.B.   E4K 3W3<
    • 22 one-bedroom apartments
    • 10 subsidized apartments

  • 1984 – Construction of the Sénateur-Roméo-LeBlanc Residence (not-for-profit) 200 Notre-Dame Street, Memramcook, N.B.   E4K 3W3
    • 20 apartments
    • 14 one-bedroom units
    • 6 two-bedroom units

  • 1985 – Construction of the Foyer Dr Camille-E. Gaudet  (not-for-profit) 100 Notre-Dame Street, Memramcook, N.B.   E4K 3W3
    • a 30-bed nursing home offering various services to long term care clients (level III).
    • Licensed by the Department of Health and Wellness of the province of New Brunswick
    • 20 rooms
      • 10 private room
      • 10 shared rooms
    • Resident Services:
      • Administration Services
      • Mobility/Rehabilitation Services (Activities)
      • Pastoral Services
      • Dietician Services
      • Laundry and Housekeeping Services
      • Environment and Security Services (installations)
      • 24 hours, seven days a week Nursing Care Services
  • 1995 – Land bought to build Domaine La Vallée de Memramcook Inc.

  • 1996 – Construction of Domaine La Vallée (not-for-profit) 18 Marcellin Street, Memramcook, N.B.   E4K 2J7
    • a 28-bed special care nursing home (2nd floor)

        • Pastoral Services
        • Dietician Services

        • 24 hours, 7 days a week Personal Care Services

  • 2005 – Purchase of the old baseball field on Centrale Street once owned by the Saint-Thomas Parish

  • 2006 – Construction of the Manoir du Mascaret (not-for-profit) 600 Centrale Street, Memramcook, N.B.   E4K 3S7
    • 35 apartments
    • 18 two-bedroom apartments
    • 14 one-bedroom apartments (subsidized)
    • 3 one-bedroom apartments
