The Memramcook Fire Department is responsible for providing fire protection and emergency services for the Village de Memramcook. It is entirely made up of volunteer firefighters. Currently, the Fire Department has 42 volunteer firefighters devoted to protecting the wellbeing and safety of Memramcook residents. They meet once a week (except during the summer months) to train, practice and maintain their equipment. Since July 2006, the Memramcook and Pré-d’en-Haut Fire Departments have merged their services into one Fire Department servicing the needs of the entire region.
Amalgamation Ceremony – On Friday October 19, 2007, at the Pré-d’en-Haut Golden Age Club, the Village de Memramcook officially celebrated the amalgamation of the Pré-d’en-Haut and Memramcook Fire Departments. Firefighters and their families, cou ncil members, municipal employees and Legislative Assembly member Bernard LeBlanc and MP Dominic LeBlanc joined in the celebrations to mark this momentous occasion. Commemorative plaques were handed out to firefighters from both former departments who shall continue working hard as volunteers for the newly amalgamated Memramcook Fire Department. Firefighters were thanked for their strong commitment to Memramcook and its citizens. While the fire department’s structure has changed, its mission remains the same: to save lives, to protect people’s property and to safeguard the environment.

Fire Hydrant Installations – The Village de Memramcook and the Memramcook Fire Department are happy to announce the installation of two new fire hydrants in the municipality (linked to a natural lake or an artificial lake). One was installed on the La Vallée Road (Folly Lake) and the other on Laura Street (Old Shediac Road). These two fire hydrants are essential to the fire department and will allow for better protection against fires. With the help of the Fire Department, the municipality will look into installing more fire hydrants at other strategic locations.
The Memramcook Fire Department has two fire stations. The main station is in the former Village de Saint-Joseph and the second one is in the former Village de Pré-d’en-Haut. The Memramcook fire station has 3 firefighting trucks and one rescue truck equipped with the Jaws of Life, a defibrillator and other rescue equipment. The Pré-d’en-Haut fire station has two firefighting trucks and one rescue truck.

The Memramcook Fire Department is affiliated with the 911 system and during fires, accidents or medical emergencies is always the first on scene. The Department has the necessary equipment and training needed to fully manage a situation until an ambulance arrives. In 2008, the Memramcook Fire Department responded to 260 calls.
Raymond G. LeBlanc is the Fire Chief for the Memramcook Fire Department.
Raymond G. LeBlanc has been a volunteer fireman with the Memramcook Fire Department since 1990. He became Fire Chief in 2000. In 2006, he became the Fire Chief of the newly merged Fire Department. He is also the second vice-president of the New Brunswick Association of Fire Chiefs.
